In 2004 Fred was the CEO and President of the World Congress on Information Technology.  The WCIT2006 is a forum that is held every two years under the direction of the World Information Technology Services Alliance (WITSA).  The forum brings together delegates from business, government and Academia to discuss the direction of IT policy.  He formalized WCIT’s objectives, strategic plan developed processes to ensure the success of the forum.

Prior to that, he was Vice President and CIO of Information Technology at Advanced Micro Devices from 2000 to 2004.  He was responsible for global manufacturing and business system applications as well as infrastructure support that included servers, voice and data supporting over 11,000 employees worldwide. 

From 1996 – 2000, Mr. Mapp was Vice President and CIO of Information Technology at Honeywell and provided information systems solutions development and implementation, applications services and infrastructure support to over 4000 employees for the Industrial Controls Division. 

Prior to Honeywell, American Express’s technology strategy required the development and implementation of new applications and services for the corporate card.  Mr. Mapp joined the company as Vice President of IT to provide leadership of the information technology projects and in the re-engineering of the Information Technology organization

Prior to American Express, Mr. Mapp spent 30 years at IBM culminating as an Executive in its Service and Support Division.  

He has been featured in articles in Fortune, CIO, Optimize and various other magazines.

Mr. Mapp attended the University of New Haven and majored in electrical engineering.  In addition, he was selected to attend the Executive Program at Colgate University and the Executive Program at the Tuck School of Business, Dartmouth College.
